His heart has always been drawn back home to the Polish woodlands, and now, he has returned to create a space where both animals and humans can find blissful refuge. Before Wild Roots was even a dream, Bogusch the Cat was already here, watching, waiting, and ruling his little kingdom. The first rescue, the original resident, and quite frankly, the boss of the operation, he came with the land 14 years ago and decided to stay—on his own terms, of course.

Bogusch is a stable-dwelling, fire-side lounging, sausage-stealing legend. By day, he’s the Official Welcoming Committee, greeting guests with his signature chatty meow and leading curious visitors straight to his domain—the stables, where he holds court with the horses and donkeys. By night, he transforms into a Master of Mischief, sneaking by the fire to “borrow” a sausage or two (because, obviously, he deserves it).

Despite his playful, kitten-like energy, Bogusch carries the wisdom of the land. He’s seen it all, from the sanctuary’s very first steps to the wild, magical retreat it is today. He’s not just part of Wild Roots—he is Wild Roots.

So if you hear a meow that sounds suspiciously like an invitation, follow him. He’s got stories to tell, secrets to share, and—if you’re lucky—a moment of his legendary feline approval.

Lucille’s journey is one of creativity, nourishment, and a profound connection to nature. With a background in events and the arts, she brings a unique and holistic approach to every gathering. Lucille specialises in curating immersive experiences that inspire, heal, and uplift the spirit. Her passion for food goes beyond the plate—she crafts meals designed to nourish both body and mind focusing on health, nutrition, and mood-enhancing ingredients that support overall well-being and hormonal balance.

It was Lucille’s deep love for nourishing food and the wilderness that sparked the partnership with Simon and the joint creation of the Wild Roots Retreats & Kitchen. The moment she set foot on the land and met the wonderful animals, she knew it was something truly special—a place of healing and transformation. Lucille brings us together through food, creativity, sound and the healing magic of the wilderness.

Meet Marshall, the self-appointed mascot, apple thief, and undisputed king of Wild Roots. (Sorry Simon!) Once mistaken for a micro piglet, he is in fact a rather large and handsome Vietnamese potbellied pig. When he’s not snoozing under the walnut tree, you’ll likely find him sneaking snacks from the goats or charming our guests with his undeniable charisma.

Marshall takes his role here very seriously—whether it’s taste-testing (stealing) treats, supervising (napping) in the sun, or leading important morning meetings (sharing your breakfast). With a belly full of apples and a heart full of mischief, he’s not just a pig—he’s our lovable legend.
